6 Makeup Tips For A Workout

Going to the gym is a great way to release some endorphins, get in shape, and roll around in other people’s sweat. But while you’re there, you don’t want to be the stinky girl with mascara running down her face. It’s no secret that wearing makeup to the gym can be a bit of a gamble. Will your mascara hold up through a session of cardio? Will your foundation start to melt in the heat of a spin class? Here are some tips on how to keep your workout makeup in place while you sweat it out.

Use a Primer

Primers will help your makeup last longer and give your skin an extra layer of protection. They create a barrier between your skin and your makeup, helping to keep everything in place. They also help to absorb sweat and oil, keeping your skin looking fresh and matte. Applied before your foundation, concealer, powder, and a blush a primer can help to ensure that your makeup stays put – no matter how hard you work out.

Use Waterproof Products

Choose a waterproof foundation and concealer that will stand up to perspiration and won’t rub off on your clothes. If you want to wear mascara and eyeliner, make sure you choose one that is waterproof too. Just like with your foundation, you don’t want these products running down your face when you start to sweat.

Avoid Heavy Powders

No one likes feeling like they’re caked in makeup, especially when they’re working up a sweat at the gym. Heavy powders can cake up and make your pores look enlarged, which is the last thing you want when you’re trying to feel confident and attractive. Instead, opt for a light foundation or BB cream that will help to even out your skin tone without weighing you down. You can also set your makeup with a light dusting of translucent powder to help absorb excess oil and keep your makeup in place. With a few simple tweaks, you can enjoy your workout while still looking fabulous.

Avoid Lipsticks

Use lip stains or balms instead of lipstick. Lipstick is more likely to rub off or transfer onto your water bottle, so it’s best to avoid it altogether. A lip stain will give you color that lasts without feeling heavy or sticky.

Go Light

Bear in mind that less is more. You don’t need a full face of makeup when you’re working out—just a few key products will do the trick!

Stay Hydrated

Even if you don’t have sensitive skin, working out can cause your skin to develop problems such as becoming dry, red, and irritated. That’s because when you sweat, your body loses not only water but also natural oils that help to keep your skin supple and hydrated. To help combat this, it’s important to use a skin hydrator after working out.  If you’re not sure which products work for you, give our Géran Mediterranean skin hydrator a try. It can help keep your skin healthy and hydrated – even if you hit the gym twice a day.
